Based in Cowbridge, CAOS was formed in 1969 by a small group of people drawn together by a common interest.  Our first production was The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan, which was performed on the stage at Cowbridge Town Hall.  After that, four more Gilbert and Sullivan productions were performed, before tackling Die Fledermaus by Johan Strauss in 1974.

Since then CAOS have produced one show each year, with the exception of 1986, and have performed a wide variety of operettas and musicals. (See the Past Productions page for a full list.)

In 1997 the Society had outgrown the Town Hall stage and moved its production to the hall at Llantwit Major Comprehensive School.  However, the link to Cowbridge has been maintained as, more recently, the shows have been complemented by an Autumn Concert at the Town Hall.  Featuring songs from a wide variety of musical sources, including an Old Time Music Hall, these have proved to be very popular with our audiences.

In 2003 the Society became a registered charity enabling it to receive funding from additional sources and in 2005 it established a link with another local musical institution, the RAF St Athan Voluntary Band, by performing an evening of G&S favourites.
